A Brief History
'Ello, there! I'm Keith Loon! I've been requested by the cartoonist to give you a brief 'istory of Obani U Wena!
It all started in 2006 when the cartoonist became addicted to The Who. She went over to Zambia on a humanitarian visit and was able to visit a gamepark or two. While there, she fell deeply in love with the african animals and began to compare them to the members of The Who...
While on the plane back from Zambia, she began drawing her first sketches and the preliminary drawings of a comic book called "The Gnu" in which many of us were first featured... sadly, her attention span didn't last and only four pages reached the ink stage.
Then, She started college and began to draw out her comic book as a comic strip. She struggled with a name that would fit the comic and struggled to translate the phrase "Who are you" into Zulu (for those not familiar with The Who, this was the last album her idol, Keith Moon, played on). She tried to submit it to her college newspaper but they didn't take it because it lacked ninjas and Chuck Norris... She then turned to the web.
Soon after seeing her first Who concert, she joined thewhotour.com and the first incarnation of this site became site of the month, for several months! (Pete Townshend even signed the old guestbook and if you like, she will gladly show you the frame it is in..)
